School of Motion is looking to add a Director of Product to our team. In this position, you will be responsible for roadmapping a portfolio of products including the School of Motion curriculum, workshops, and our learning management system. This is a position for an experienced and talented individual, so be honest about your skills.

We are the online school for motion designers, with over 12,000 alumni and thousands of active students learning alongside nearly 100 instructors and teaching assistants. The mission of School of Motion is to break down the barriers to the industry, and we’ve helped thousands of people from all over the world achieve their goals. Now we want to expand even more and help others grow into successful artists.

Our office is 100% distributed, meaning you can work from anywhere so long as you have an internet connection. Right now, we need a Director of Business Development to take us to the next level.

The right candidate is as passionate as we are about building the future of art education, and will come to the team with a fresh perspective, new ideas, and the experience and desire to implement new verticals across the company.

You should have:

  • 10 years of experience in Product Development (experience in SaaS products or content streaming service is a plus)
  • Familiarity with education products, online learning, subscription content models, and/or corporate training
  • An innate ability to lead a team, manage projects, and meet deadlines
  • An understanding and affinity for working in a start up environment
  • A wide degree of creativity and strategic thinking is expected
  • A strong understanding of product management systems and methodologies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a track record of cross-team collaboration that demonstrates adaptability, leadership, and resilience
  • Be familiar with digital tools such as Hubspot, Slack, Zoom, Airtable, and more. In general, you should be comfortable learning new apps

Experience working in a fully distributed team is a huge plus.

Candidates with a BS in Marketing, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field preferred but experience is more important than formal education.

 

You can expect to:

  • Build a portfolio of products including digital content and a SaaS that helps people build their own school.
  • Lead an established team of industry experts, product managers, and content creators
  • Continue to grow the product team as necessary
  • Own the business case for new products and bring new product ideas through a phase-gate process
  • Collaborate with in-house industry experts to deliver the most effective, high-quality online training
  • Collect customer feedback and drive the voice of customer projects to identify new product ideas. Translate customer feedback into user and product requirements
  • Define and analyze KPIs and metrics that inform the success of products and communicate the progress clearly to the product team
  • Manage the newly assembled product team which consists of product /project managers, designers, and industry experts
  • Work closely across teams to develop the go-to-market strategy and tactics to ensure a successful launch. Develop and implement positioning and messaging, pricing & promotion, sales collateral, training materials, and other sales enablement programs to achieve revenue targets
  • Be responsible for collaborating and partnering with internal and external stakeholders, with the objective to attain profitable topline sales/profitability/ROI in order to achieve the organization’s financial goals
